A passion for Modern Art and the vibrant desert in bloom inspire Deborah's ceramic pieces.
Nerikomi (Japanese), Marbled Clay, and Agate-ware (English) refer to pottery decorated with a combination of contrasting colored clays. Deborah's process starts with hand-coloring porcelain clay, stacking, or wedging the various colors and slicing through the cross section to reveal slabs with three-dimensional patterns. Vessels are then shaped by hand and allowed to dry very slowly before firing. The finished work exposes a composition of both planning and accidental surprises.
Handmade with colored clay (matte charcoal, white, blue, green)
Approximately 4"D x 4"H
